Thanks for the good wishes for the Portland conference. Wow, your event sounds great, too. I am really looking forward to seeing the photos when you return. Let us all know how it goes and I'd love an update on the events there. We will do the same. Great exchange of ideas, art, community!

This promises to be a tremendous gathering - really, really disappointed that I will be missing out. It coincides with my participation in the community-based events of this year's Biennial in Havana, Cuba. Laboratorio Artistico de San Agustin, on the outskirts of the capital, has invited 30 international artists, architects and designers to work with them in transforming an abandoned industrial structure into the "1st Museum of Contemporary Art" for their country. Without solid walls or roof, MAC-SAN will be completely open to creative interactions with the surrounding neighborhood, a mix of urban farms and high density housing blocks. I will send photos upon return.
Wishing you all a wonderfully rich exchange!

What a great project! I loved the slides and how it represents the process...of building community, and making art and enjoying a meal together. Love the concept of Empty Bowls. I hear it is expanding to include some glass bowls and other innovative ideas.
