Sunnyside Piazza
“This Piazza, perhaps the most famous of all the intersection projects of City Repair, will be painted once again during this year’s Village Building Convergence. With it’s vibrant colors of yellow, orange, red and green, this street piazza is considered by many to be the heart of the Sunnyside Neighborhood whose symbol is the sunflower.
There are many stories to be heard about the Sunnyside Piazza, including the way that so many more people and community projects have been inspired by it all over the city and the USA. The Sunnyside Neighborhood itself has many such projects, including the Memorial Life House at SE 37th & Taylor, The Hawthorne Hostel Pavilion at SE 31st & Hawthorne, the Sunnyside Environmental School Gateway at SE 34th & Salmon, and many others.”
